Tennis, Basketball & 5-a-Side at Courts Club Manchester
Game on at Courts Club.
Right in the middle of St John’s, our outdoor court brings tennis, basketball and 5-a-side football to Manchester city centre, seven days a week.
It’s a court with a few different personalities. One day it’s rackets and questionable line calls, the next it’s shooting hoops or ten mates attempting to prove they’ve still got it on the football pitch. And once the game’s over, The Dugout is a few steps away for food, drinks and whatever sport happens to be on the screens.
Here’s what’s on court.
Tennis in Manchester City Centre
Tennis has been part of Courts Club from the beginning, with the outdoor court available for both singles and doubles sessions.
Singles bookings are £15 for two players, while doubles are £25 for four. Rackets are welcome from home, but for anyone travelling light, racket hire is available for £4 during Clubhouse opening hours.
Set against the backdrop of St John’s, it’s tennis right in Manchester city centre — without a membership or journey out to the suburbs required.
Basketball at Courts Club
When the rackets come down, the hoops are ready.
The court can be booked for basketball too, with half-court sessions at £15 and full-court hire at £30. Bring a basketball, bring the bibs and decide the teams on arrival — diplomacy optional.
It gives Manchester’s basketball players an outdoor court right in St John’s, with the added advantage of a bar waiting on the other side of the final whistle.
5-a-Side Football in Manchester
The newest addition to the court is 5-a-side football.
Introduced this summer, the set-up gives groups of ten the full court for a 55-minute game, with bookings currently £50 — or £5 each when all ten of you actually make it out of the group chat.
It’s a simple formula: two teams, one court and almost certainly at least one person taking it far too seriously.

What to Bring
Tennis rackets can be hired from Courts Club for £4 during Clubhouse opening hours, or players can bring their own.
For basketball, balls and bibs aren't provided, so those need to make the journey with you. Footballs are provided for 5-a-side, so all you need to bring is your team.
Beyond that, trainers, something vaguely resembling sportswear and a little competitive spirit should do it.
Post-Match at The Dugout
One of the better things about playing at Courts Club is that nobody has to head home when the game ends.
The Dugout sits alongside the court with a menu built for post-match appetites: chicken wings, hot dogs, nachos, loaded fries and plenty more, alongside beers, cocktails and soft drinks.
There’s also Golden Hour every day from 4–8pm, with two spritzes for £13. A considerably more civilised way to discuss the score.
More Than a Sports Court
The court isn’t only available for a kickabout or a game of tennis. It can also be privately hired for brand activations, photoshoots, events, parties and team days, with the space set up for tennis, basketball or 5-a-side depending on what you have planned.
From tournaments and team socials to shoots and one-off events, the court gives brands and groups a pretty unusual outdoor space in the middle of Manchester city centre.
